Members of Support Groups share experiences, engage in advocacy, provide information and help each other in their quest for personal growth. People with epilepsy are greatly benefited when they join a support group as they often experience a sense of loneliness (only I have this problem – why me) and lack proper socialization. A support group is one which is facilitated by professionals and a self help group is organized and managed totally by people experiencing the particular problem, in this case epilepsy. The epilepsy support / self help groups in India are as follows:
