INTERNATIONAL EPILEPSY DAY 2014 CELEBRATIONS

We have celebrated epilepsy day with fee camps there were 82 PWE who attended the camp medical director Dr. Pancholia enaugrated the camp there is an epidemic of swin flue in Indore

Patients were provided with mask as we have epidemic of swin flue in the city of Indore

Neelam Ranade gave the presentation on epilepsy & myths Dr,.V.V.Nadkarni & her team helped in the patient forum to resolve the problems with epilepsy.

To comemorate the National Epilepsy Day we have distributed posters as replicated in the various hospitals for creating public awareness on epilepsy.

NATIONAL EPILEPSY DAY 2014 CELEBRATIONS

Indian epilepsy Association M.P. Chapter has been renamed as Indore epilepsy Visheshagya Association Samiti (IEVAS). We conducted National epilepsy Day program at Jal Auditorium on 16th November 2014 from10 AM to 4 PM. The function was inaugurated by Shri Mukesh Chohan General Secretary Central Govt employees Welfare Cordination Committee. Shri B.L.Jaju, Chairman & Trustee of Gita Bhavan Trust presided over the function. President Dr.V.G. Dakwale addressed the gathering with special focus on epilepsy surgery.

Dr.V.V.Nadkarni secretary IeVAS presented the annual report 2013 to 2014. Dr.R.K.Jain Medical Director Gita Bhawan Hospital reassured IeVAS about continuous support for our chapter. Annual New letter of IeVAS M.P. Chapter 2014 was released by the Chief Guest.

This was followed by a scientific session on epilepsy. Dr.Ashish Bagdi Neuro physician CHL Hospital spoke on “epilepsy Diagnosis & Management in adults”. Dr.V.S.PAL Prof.of Psychiatry, M.Y.Hospital Indore spoke on “epilepsy & Psychosocial Issues.” Secretary of the Pragya Mirgi Rog Hospital Gulabpura, Rajasthan, Mr. Ghevarchand Shreemal participated in our function.

In his talk he informed that Mirgi hospital in Rajasthan has been distributing free medicines to PWe for last 40 yrs. However, he admitted that many patients & caregivers in the city of Gulabpura Rajasthan have little knowledge about epilepsy. Persons with epilepsy feel that treatment is lifelong & lose all hopes of cure.

He was impressed with the educational & public awareness program at our function especially for patient & caregivers. He expressed his desire of conducting a similar program in his hospital with the help of M.P.Chapter. This is an added feather to our cap as our M.P.Chapter executive members with the team of Neurologists,

Neurosurgeons, Psychiatrist; Psychologist & Counselors in epilepsy care have been invited to their hospital to conduct a workshop. Dr. Jaymala Shah, Yoga Guru, gave a demonstration on Yoga. This session was to create awareness on stress reduction through yoga.

The yogasanas were to encourage people with epilepsy, a cultural program including dance performances by Miss Priti Borasi & Mr. Pankaj Parmar who performed excellent solo dance. A poster exhibition on epilepsy was organized at the venue to create awareness on different aspects of epilepsy Film on epilepsy by 18th IeC Trust was “Mirgi Sahi Gyan Sahi Samadhan” was screened in auditorium 2. Creativity in children with epilepsy is best appreciated through drawing & painting for which painting competition was organized for children at the venue & 28children participated.

Talented children were rewarded with certificate of participants & prizes. Quiz competition on knowledge & facts on epilepsy through a questionnaire was organized for caregivers of patients was organized in which 120 adults participated. All the members & caregivers of patients received handouts on epilepsy.

Free epilepsy camp was conducted in which 94 patients were examined & treated. Antiepileptic drugs were distributed to all the patients in order to promote drug compliance.



 

 

Epilepsy workshop by IEA M.P. Chapter on 3rd August 2013

Indian Epilepsy Association M.P.Chapter conducts regular epilepsy camp on first Saturday workshop every month .

Epilepsy workshop held in Gita Bhawan Hospital on 3 rd August 2013 Public awareness on epilepsy was organized at this camp .Information on women facing epilepsy in adolescence ,marriage & pregnancy issues were discussed. Psychologist Madhvi Tiwari given counseling services for these patients .Information in women with epilepsy was screened through a LCD projector by Mrs.Neelam Ranade EEG Technologist (Who has graduate in Diploma In Epilepsy Care ) .

There was a screening a educating film on epilepsy “Mirgi Sahi Gyan Sahi Samadhan “ for patients.20 patients were given Free EEG check up sponsored by Alkem Pentacare division Division).Painting materials was distributed to children with epilepsy by Intas phrma .

Dr.V.V.Nadkarni & Dr.Kurechiya examined 85 patients .

Refreshments were provided for patients by donors Mr.Notandas Lalwani,Mr.Narayansingh,& Mr.Bhatiya.

Free Medicines distributed through the Gita Bhawan staff & philanthropist Mrs.Anita Motwani,Dr.Pradeep Meheshwari,Dr.Jaymala Shah,Mrs.Neelam Ranade help in drug distribution.

National Epilepsy Day Celebration by IEA M.P. Chapter on
17 Nov.2012

We had an excellent National Epilepsy day celebration organized on 17th November 2012 at Jal Sabhagraha Indore.

Chief Medical & Health officer Dr.Ashok Dagriya was the chief guest of the function and the trustee of Gita Bhawan Hospital Shri B.L.Jajoo was guest of honor for this function.

Dr.Vinod Bhagat (Medical Director Gita Bhawan Hospital) presided the function.

Dr.V.G.Dakwale President of IEA M.P.Chapter spoke on epilepsy Surgery Progress. Dr.Nadkarni Secretary of IEA M.P.Chapter gave the detailed report about the activities conducted during the period from Nov.2011-Oct 2012 .

Dr.Ashok Dagriya Chief Medical & Health Officer Indore suggested that patient with epilepsy should be treated immediately by the members of the family instead of taking the patient to the Quacks. He also suggested that patient should collect certificate from collector office for monthly monetary help & for employment. Dr.Ashok Dagriya released a annual newsletter of IEA M.P. Chapter highlighted activities carried out from November 2011 to 2012 .

Rangrupiya Theater presented a drama "Be positive" on Epilepsy. This drama depicts the story of girl who tried to commit suicide by intake of sleeping tablets.This story rotted around the myths on epilepsy & the real facts .The older patients of the hospital are care by doctor who himself is suffering from epilepsy .

Take-home message of the drama are:-Do not lose any hopes ,if you have epilepsy & be positive in the life.

Dr.Jaymala Shah & Shri Chetan Shah gave demonstration on "Yoga for Epilepsy".

During the scientific session renowned Neuro physician CHL Hospital Dr.Ashish Bagdi presented a talk on "Epilepsy Diagnosis & Management" Poster Exhibition on epilepsy was organized at the venue.

We also organized painting competition for children with epilepsy in which 45 children participated and, Quiz competition for patients & caregiver in which 35 adult participated.

More then 100 people with epilepsy & 200 caregivers participated in the national epilepsy day camp , In the afternoon free medicines distributed to promote drug compliance .They also received the news letter & handouts on yoga for epilepsy& Epilepsy Management.

We had an excellent National Epilepsy day celebration organized on 17th November to create an awareness of epilepsy at Pritamlal Dua Sabhagraha Inore. Justice V.S.Kokje (Ex -Governor Himachal Pradesh ) was the chief guest of the function and the trustee of Gita Bhawan Hospital Shri B.L.Jajoo was guest of honor for this function.

Justice V.S.Kokje suggested that Government should give the same opportunity in Job, education, & allowances .In a similar manner as given to the mentally challenge to the people .He also mentioned that people with epilepsy is most neglected person and deprived as marriage, Job, education due to his epilepsy.

Shri V.S.Kokje released a annual newsletter of IEA M.P. Chapter highlighted activities carried out from November 2010 to 2011 .

Rangrupiya Theater presented a drama "Rogistan ke Mukhya Chunav"on Epilepsy.This drama shows that people are more concerned about dreadful diseases like hypertension, Diabetics ,Heart attack, Stroke --but Epilepsy is always in shadows .The artist have beautifully unfolded the story of this common disease like Mirgi and there is a definite need to change the outlook of the public .The artist I.e.Daughter In Law & Mother In Law through a dialogue talk on myths & facts on epilepsy,written & directed by Ravi Joshi. This drama was shown on local T.V. Channel on Indore give a information on epilepsy.

After that there was screening of the patient educating program on epilepsy "Mirgi Sahi Gyan Sahi Samadhan" by 18th IEA Trust .

Dr.Jaymala Shah spoke "yogasanas for epilepsy" .

During the scientific session renowned pediatrician SAIMS Prof.Dr. Swati Mulye presented on "Febrile Seizures " Dr.Rashmi Sriwastav Dietician Gita Bhawan Hospital presented slide show on "Diet for Epilepsy" special reference for ketogenic Diet. Poster Exhibition on epilepsy was organized at the venue. Posters on "Epilepsy in Teens" where displayed on the Railway station, Bus stand and the Hospitals depicting Driving & Epilepsy ,Marriage & Epilepsy ,Epilepsy & sports,Epilepsy & Alcohol. We are organized painting competition for children with epilepsy in which 40 children participated and, Quiz competition for patients & caregiver in which 70 adult participated . More then 100 people with epilepsy & 200 caregivers participated in the national epilepsy day camp , In the afternoon free medicines distributed to promote drug compliance .They also received the news letter & handouts. We acknowledges the support of the pharma company for the above function. On 17th November through Bhaskar T.V.Channel there was a talk shows on epilepsy ( 20 min) in which Dr.Nadkarni participated .This was released at 7 PM.
